Is your
counseling
practice
confidential?
I
hold to
the
strictest
of
confidentiality,
which I
realize
is most
important
to my
clients.
To find
out more
about my
confidentiality
policy
please
inquire
about it
at your
first
session.

Why
should I
get
counseling
now?
To
postpone
any
issue of
concern
is to
risk a
loss of
some
kind.
The
longer
it is
postponed,
the
greater
the
possibility
of loss.
Ask
yourself
the
following
questions:
-
Could
my
personal
health
suffer?
-
Could
I
experience
an
increase
in
my
stress,
anxiety
levels,
possibly
resulting
in
burnout?
-
Could
it
cost
me a
relationship
or
at
least
cause
greater
suffering
by
delaying?
-
Could
it
cause
me
my
job,
promotion,
or
rise?
-
By
postponing
help,
could
it
impact
my
finances?
Could I find myself taking on new problems such
as
struggling
with
addictions
or
through
the use
of
unhealthy
means
finding
ways to
cope
with my
situation,
thereby
creating
more
avoidable
stress?
If you
answered
‘yes’ to
one or
more of
these
questions,
it would
be
reasonable
to
consider
counseling
as an
inexpensive
option
rather
than
having
to face
more
problematic
consequences.
Remember,
you are
worth
investing
in, and
counseling
is an
investment
on your
well-being.
The
greatest
resource
you
possess
is
yourself:
your
health,
your
peace of
mind,
and your
relationships.

Won’t
bringing
up
things
make my
situation
worse
Sharing
you
deepest,
darkest
‘secrets’
will not
worsen
your
existing
situation.
On the
contrary,
I have
found
that by
‘reliving,’
understanding,
and
dealing
with
their
past, my
clients
heal.
This
healing,
or
resolving
past
issues,
helps
clients
to deal
functionally
with
present
challenges.

Are you
a
registered
counselor?
Yes, I
am a
registered
counselor
with the
Canadian
Professional
Counselors
Association
(CPCA),
and I
have a
Diplomat
status
with the
American
College of Sexologists
(ACS).

What
happens
during
the
first
counseling
session?
For your
first
visit,
please
arrive
15
minutes
prior to
your
scheduled
appointment
to fill
out an
intake
form so
that I
can
better
serve
you.
During
the
first
session,
you will
be given
the
opportunity
to tell
me your
story. I
will ask
some
questions
in order
to
determine
your
needs
and
expectations,
thereby
working
to build
a
therapeutic
relationship
with
you,
based on
understanding
and
trust.

How long
will
therapy
take?
The
duration
of a
counseling
relationship
depends
upon the
needs
and
issues
of each
client.
Requirements
can
range
from 3
sessions
and up.
Together,
after
your
initial
assessment
session,
we can
determine
how many
sessions
you may
require.

What are
the fees
involved?
One
counseling
session
is $150
per one
hour (50
minute)
session.
For
further
inquiries,
please
call my
office.

As a
business
owner
can my
counseling
expenses
be
covered
through
my
business?
As a
business
owner
you may
be able
to use
my fees
as a
business
expense.
This
would
depend
upon
your
coverage
and the
type of
counseling
service
that is
requested.
For
further
information
contact
a
qualified
tax
professional
or
accountant.
Is
counseling
covered
under my
health
care
benefits?
The cost
of
counseling
may be
reimbursed
if your
employer
has
provided
you with
an
Extended
Medical
Benefits
plan
that
insures
professional
counseling
services.
Your
private
coverage
is a
private
contract
between
the
company
and you,
and not
with the
counselor.
Reimbursement
is the
sole
responsibility
of the
client.
Each
insurance
company
has its
own
policies.
To
confirm
that
coverage
is
available
to you
consult
your
insurer’s
representative.
A
receipt
is
issued,
and may
be used
for
reimbursement
requests
or for
some tax
benefit.

What if
I have a
problem
attending?
Clients
who have
physical
disabilities,
or are
in
remote
areas,
may
inquire
about my
telephone
counseling
services.

Do you
offer
phone
counseling
services?
For
those
clients
who are
unable
to have
face-to-face
sessions
(because
of
physical
challenges
or
because
they
live in
another
city or
country),
I offer
sessions
by
phone.
These
clients
either
phone my
office
or email
me to
schedule
their
initial
counseling
session.
Prior to
our
session,
it is
the
clients’
responsibility
to mail,
courier,
or
FedEx,
their
counseling
fee
($150).

Do you
offer
special
training,
seminars,
and
courses?
I am
very
active
as a
speaker
and
lecturer
across
North
America.
I have
addressed
many
different
topics
related
to
relationships
and
sexuality.
My
recent
topics
have
focused
on
cross-cultural
romantic
relationships.
I’ve
been
told
that I’m
exciting
to watch
in both
small,
intimate
groups
and in
larger
settings.
I also
offer
courses
at Capilano University
(in
North
Vancouver, BC) throughout the year.
If you
wish to
have me
custom-design
a speech
for a
particular
occasion,
please
call my
office
for more
information.
